+ The Plough Inn

Highest pub in Surrey and is a Free House with its own microbrewery and village shop. In the 17th century it was a coaching inn. With B&B and picturesque barn for functions.

+ The Parrot

Famed for the fabulous sunsets and cosy nooks, this 17th Century country pub is just 20 minutes walk from The Green Escape. Onsite is their delicatessen/farm shop, The Butcher’s Hall. Many events are held, particularly involving the local community, and there is an annual Mid-Summer Beer Festival. It is licensed for weddings and can cater for all sorts of functions.

+ Abinger Hatch

Andy and Sarah have owned the pub for a year and have worked hard to make it the focus of the community. Plenty of fun with its Boules Pitch and Croquet Lawn plus outside bar and kitchen on Saturdays.

16th Century pub which has lovely views of the Surrey Hills from its garden. Run by the hard working Nelson family, it is very popular with locals for its warm welcome and hearty meals.

Famous for the spectacular views from its multi level deck, the facilities which include a clubroom and state of the art karaoke system can accommodate a variety of functions.

+ The Compasses Inn

The Tillingbourne river runs through the garden of this traditional, dog friendly inn. serving pub grub including breakfast. Beer is supplied by the local Surrey Hills Brewery and there is live music every Friday night. The only Post Office in a pub is opening there soon.

Former Formula 1 racer and The Stig from Top Gear, Julian Bailey is the owner of this Edwardian, recently renovated, contemporary pub. Temptation doesn’t come much better than this pretty tearoom open 7 days a week. It’s also a café and deli with a healthy menu (apart from the Wicked Hot Chocolate and one or two other tempting things) delightful staff and friendly atmosphere.

+ Annie's Tearoom

This charming, old fashioned tearoom serves generous portions of food and hospitality. Hard working Annie also owns the adjoining shop which supplies villagers with provisions from newspapers to fishing nets for children to use in the pretty stream opposite. Abinger Cricket Ground in the background adds to the quintessential English atmosphere.

+ Kingfisher Farm Shop

Already famed for its watercress grown in natural spring water, the Farm Shop opened in 1999 and is very successful and well supported by a local, core group of customers. Open 7 days a week, it sells high quality food for the discerning customer with the emphasis on local suppliers. 17 – 24 May Watercress week showcases products with watercress in the recipes from sausages to cheese and watercress scones.

Action Days UK is home to the famous Military Assault Course - voted the best in the UK! They offer a range of exciting outdoor activities including muddy Obstacle courses, Target Shooting, Rafting and Military style events.

+ Tillingbourne Trout Farm

There are several fishing ponds from beginners to experienced night fishing. You can make a party of it by catching then barbecuing the fish on site. The shop sells a wide range of smoked, and frozen fish and game. The onsite fish smoking is achieved by a process that is centuries old.

+ Rhododendron Woods

Just a 15 minute walk from The Green Escape is the rhododendron wood on Leith Hill. Created by Caroline Wedgwood, sister of naturalist Charles Darwin the beautiful shaded formal landscape provides a tranquil setting for people to relax among the scented blooms. Accessible all year round, but best to visit between April and June to catch the flowers in full swing.

+ Leith Hill Tower

Enjoy the walk on the winding paths to Leith Hill tower and stop for a picnic as you overlook the luscious English countryside. Climb to the top of the tower and experience the breathtaking views. On a clear day you can see sweeping views towards London in the north and the English Channel in the south, refreshments served from the tiny window at the bottom (opening times vary).

+ Coldharbour Cricket Club

Just a short walk from Leith Hill Tower, Coldharbour Cricket club is the highest pitch in the South of England. With the rolling country hills creating a stunning backdrop, it’s a beautiful place to kick back and watch the action.

+ Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden

10 acre landscaped garden in Ockley, houses an ever changing collection of contemporary sculpture by over 100 artists. Selected by owner-curator, Hannah Peschar, there is a variety of styles with each sculpture placed in a carefully considered and meaningful relationship with the other featured works within the garden, created by the award-winning landscape designer, Anthony Paul.

+ Box Hill

Forming part of the North Downs, Box Hill has breathtaking views across the surrounding countryside. It’s home to some fantastic wildlife and plants.
Box Hill featured prominently on the route of the 2012 Summer Olympics cycling road race events, the men doing nine circuits and the women doing two circuits.

+ Denbies wine estate

Offers visitors an insight into wine production in the UK, hosts tasting tours and is in idyllic location, including 7 miles of public footpath which trail throughout the vineyard.
