What we provide…

Stress free is The Green Escape mantra and we’ve tried to meet your needs so you can travel light and have an incredible stay in our secret woodland!

The Shepherd Huts

What is a shepherd hut? Traditionally used by shepherds to keep an eye on their flock, these sturdy, curved roof shelters were wheeled from field to field during the lambing season.

Nowadays sleep easy in the comfy beds all made up for your arrival. Every hut has it’s own folding table (perfect for a glass of wine or two) while relaxing next to ‘The Hobbit’, our wood burning stoves that keep you warm and dry all year round. Logs and firelighters provided.

There is one pop up cot and two moses baskets on site for our little visitors.

With just seven huts spread over the six acre woodland, each hut has plenty of space set in it’s own little glade for you to gather a few moments of quiet.

The ‘Cosy’ Huts (x2)

Cute and cosy each hut has a double bed perfect for two.

The ‘Cosy+’ Huts (x2)

The double bed has a single bunk above.

The ‘Big’ Huts (x3)

The ‘Big’ huts are perfect for the family or group. With a double bed in a snug in one end and in the other a large single bed with bunk above.

The Bales

Nestled amongst the trees ‘The Bales’ is our straw bale lodge providing a sheltered hub for the group. Cook, dine and make merry while enjoying the views of the beautiful landscape. It’s also perfect for conferences, retreats and activities such as Yoga.

The kitchen area has mains drinking water and a five ring gas hob. It is well stocked with crockery, cutlery, kitchenware and condiments. There are three folding tables, over 20 chairs and one high chair. Add to the fun with the board games and chess set, and have a good old sing-a-long around the piano.

The straw bales construction is not only sustainable but also provides natural insulation, sound proofing and is fire retardant. With the warmth of the woodburning stove and the glow of the solar lights and candles as there is no electricity on site, you can have a low carbon holiday.(Click here to check out the ‘The Bales’ being built by hand).

The Shower Hut

The Shower Hut is split into two mini bathrooms, both with shower, sink and instant hot water. Alternatively bask in the sunshine and enjoy the great outdoors with a solar shower in the trees. So incredibly refreshing and you’ll be doing your bit for zero carbon! Guests will need to bring their own toiletries and towels.

Compost Toilets

Have you ever had a poo in a compost loo? Well it’s no different from home except you ‘flush’ with a scoop of sawdust instead of wasting water. Pretty, clean, odour free and helping the trees to grow!

Outdoor Cooking

Slice, dice and drizzle to your hearts content in the shelter of our outdoor kitchen. Surrounded by the beautiful woodlands the kitchen provides all your basic needs with rustic worktops, running water, tea urn and four gas hobs. The outdoor kitchen has proved a popular addition as an alternative area to prepare food, particularly for those hosting activities in the main building. There are also two BBQ’s and a herb planter for your use.

Fire Pits

You can’t have an outdoors holiday without a camp fire for those nightly gatherings under the stars and marshmallow toasting. Seats are provided or take advantage of the colourful hammocks strung amongst the trees. You could even have a ukelele sing along workshop to bring out that country singer inside you…yeehah!
